The Tre Cime trekking photos
The Tre Cime di Lavaredo (Drei Zinnen) are the symbol of the Italian Dolomites. They are part of the Sesto/Sextener Dolomites. The massif stands alone with no other peaks in the immediate vicinity, which accentuates its height and beauty. Until 1919 the peaks formed part of the border between Italy and Austria. Now they lie on the border between the Italian provinces of Bolzano-Bozen and Belluno. The largest of the peaks has an elevation of 2,999 metres (9,839 ft). It stands between the small peak, of elevation 2,857 metres (9,373 ft), and the western peak, of elevation 2,973 metres (9,754 ft).
